Think about reference and information services

It is almost the end of March, with the theme of think, at least in the National Year of Reading twitter based reading discussion.
Understanding perceptions of libraries
What are the professional development tools which make you think? Or does this photograph sum up your approach?

Does your professional development (and it may be watching videos, listening to podcast or many other options) make you think about new ways of doing your work more effectively, of providing better customer service, how as the technologies keep changing can libraries be leaders rather than followers.  You might be thinking about new reference and information services, where people can ask you questions from and so much more.

What reference and information related tools make you think?  What do they help you think about?

come Slam the Boards in March

On the same day each month Librarians around the globe stretch their reference skills by going online and searching out questions to answer from the various answer boards which are out there - they Slam the Boards.

Not only do they display amazing research skills but they continually point the people asking the question back to their local library and the array of resources they will find there - for free. As a professional development exercise, it's fun and rewarding to stretch your skills in answering questions in a completely online environment.

The next slam will be held March 10th. But you can slam earlier or later if you're not at work that day.

Go ahead, challenge yourself and Slam the Boards! You know you want to!
(and don't forget to comment below with how you went)
